Best AI image generator for ads in 2026: 11 models, one prompt, price vs quality

The same product ad, headline and label on Nano Banana, GPT Image, Seedream, FLUX, Ideogram, Recraft, Qwen and Muse. See every result, what it cost, and which model to use for which kind of ad.

Short answer: Nano Banana 2.1 and GPT Image 2.5 made the best ad images in our test, with perfect headlines and labels, for about 4 to 5 cents an image. Muse Image was the find of the day: a clean, correct ad for about 1 cent. Nano Banana Pro is the premium pick at about 13 cents.

Here's the full test, every image as it came out.

How we tested

One prompt for a typical product ad, with two things image models used to get wrong: a headline in the image, and a brand name on the label. We sent it word for word to eleven image models on October 20, 2026, one image each, 4:5, default size. No retries.

A 4:5 social ad photo. A matte amber glass bottle of cold brew coffee stands on a sunlit marble kitchen counter, condensation beading on the glass. The bottle's label reads "NORTHBEAN COLD BREW". Across the top of the image, a bold clean sans-serif headline reads "Your mornings, sorted." Soft natural window light, realistic product photography, shallow depth of field.

What the test showed

Headlines are solved, small print is not

A year ago, a headline inside an AI image was a gamble. This time ten of eleven models set "Your mornings, sorted." correctly. The difference now shows in the details: three models filled the label's small print with made-up letters, which reads as fake the moment someone looks closely. Nano Banana 2.1, GPT Image 2.5 and Muse Image wrote small print you can actually read.

Price tells you very little

The two 1-cent models split: Muse Image was one of the best results, Ideogram V4 one of the weaker ones. The 13-cent Nano Banana Pro was excellent, but so were three models at 4 to 5 cents. Test before you pay for the premium tier.

For ads, compose text on top when it matters

Even when a model spells the headline right, you can't change the font, move it or translate it without rendering again. For an ad you'll resize and test in several versions, lay the headline over the image instead. That's how Hermoso builds image ads: the model makes the picture, and your headline, logo and button go on top in your brand's style.

Twenty variations on Nano Banana 2.1 cost under a dollar. On Muse Image, about 20 cents. That's why the right way to use image models for ads is to make many and test them, not to agonise over one. Our post on what AI ads cost by model has budgets for full static sets.

What these images cost on Hermoso

The same as above, because Hermoso has no markup on models. Making all eleven images in this post came to about $0.50. You can name the model you want, or let the AI image ad generator pick one, put your real product in, and finish the ad with your headline and logo.
