Set up the WordPress MCP
- Open the app, go to Workspace ▸ Connectors, choose WordPress and paste three things: your site address, your WordPress username and an application password (in WordPress: Users ▸ Profile ▸ Application Passwords). It is not your login password, and you can revoke it in WordPress at any time. Your agent can also connect it for you if you give it those three details. One connection covers the web app, the MCP server and the CLI.
- Add the Hermoso MCP server to your assistant. The URL is
https://app.hermoso.ai/mcp. In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, paste the URL, then sign in on the consent page. In Claude Code:claude mcp add --transport http hermoso https://app.hermoso.ai/mcp. There is no key to paste; the connector signs in with OAuth. - Ask for what you want in plain words. Can AI post to WordPress?
Yes. Once your WordPress site is connected to Hermoso, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client can publish a blog post, save it as a draft, submit it for review, make it private or schedule it for a future date, with a featured image, inline images, video, categories and tags.
Does it work with WordPress.com?
No. Hermoso connects to self-hosted WordPress sites with an application password. A site hosted on WordPress.com needs its own sign-in and cannot be connected.
What do I need to connect WordPress?
Your site address, your WordPress username and an application password from Users, then Profile, then Application Passwords in WordPress. You paste them under Workspace, then Connectors in Hermoso, or give them to your agent and it connects for you.
Can it show how many views a post got?
No. WordPress has no per-post view counts in its API, so Hermoso never quotes one. It can list your posts and read any one back with its status and live link.
Does publishing to WordPress cost credits?
No. Publishing, scheduling, editing and deleting posts costs no credits. Credits are spent only when an AI model writes or makes something, such as the images or the post copy.
Do I need a separate WordPress connection for the app and for MCP?
No. One authorisation covers the web app, the MCP server and the CLI. It is the same stored connection.
