Hermoso schedules X posts, threads and polls from the same place it makes the creative. The 280-character cap is enforced when you schedule, and because X charges per API request, Hermoso quotes what the post will cost in credits before it posts.
That second part is unusual and worth reading before you set up a queue. The queue mechanics and the other seven networks are on the social media scheduler page.
What X actually allows
The caption cap is 280 characters — and it is the same constant the immediate posting path enforces, so scheduling and posting can never drift apart on length. Over-length is refused outright, with nothing posted and nothing charged.
Visibility is public and nothing else. A post on X is public the moment it exists; X's API has no draft and no unlisted post, so those are not offered and a request for one is refused rather than reinterpreted.
Media is optional: an image and/or a video, or text-only. No identity id is needed — there is no Page or board to choose.
Beyond a single post, X supports threads of up to 25 posts, and polls with 2 to 4 options of up to 25 characters each running between 5 and 10,080 minutes. Polls and media are mutually exclusive, so a poll cannot carry an image. Alt text can run to 1,000 characters.
X bills per request, and Hermoso quotes it first
X charges for API access per request and Hermoso passes that straight through in credits, quoted before anything posts. From X's published rate card: a post costs $0.015 per request, and a post containing a URL costs $0.200 — roughly 13 times a post without one. Deleting costs $0.010. Reads cost $0.005 per post returned, which is why insights bill per post returned rather than per report. Media upload legs are not billed.
The practical consequence is that link posts are the expensive habit on this channel, and a thread of 25 posts is 25 requests. Knowing that before you queue a month of content is the whole reason the quote comes first.
Refused when you schedule it, not when it fires
Everything that can be refused is refused at the moment you schedule, with X's own rule and the fix. A post over 280 characters is turned down there and then — nothing was posted and nothing was charged — rather than being stored, fired at 09:00, and failing where you will not see it. A poll with an attached image is refused because polls and media are mutually exclusive on X. Refusals are free and name what to change.
Measurement
Public counts: impressions, likes, reposts, replies, quotes and bookmarks. Advertiser numbers: link clicks, profile visits, video views and completion quartiles, either for the last 28 hours or over any date range you name. Mentions are readable too. All of these bill per post returned, on the same $0.005 read price, so a wide pull costs more than a narrow one.
What Hermoso does not do here
Hermoso cannot manage X ads. The X Ads API is a separate product with its own approval process and its own OAuth signing, and Hermoso does not create or manage X ad campaigns. That is a hard no rather than a roadmap item to soften. Beyond that, there are no recurring or repeating posts, no first-comment automation, no RSS auto-posting and no URL shortener — which on this channel is more consequential than elsewhere, since a URL in a post is what makes it cost $0.200. Per-channel captions are available on the API and from an AI agent, but the web composer has one caption box, which matters here because 280 characters is the tightest cap of any channel.
From the browser, or from an AI agent
Scheduling to X works identically in the web app, in the in-app Studio chat, and from any AI agent over the MCP server — Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline or any MCP client. Connecting the account is a one-time OAuth flow in Settings, Connectors; a browser is needed once and everything after that is agent-callable, with no password reaching the model. Timing matches every channel: up to 365 days ahead, minimum lead of more than a minute, or the brand queue at 09:00, 13:00 and 17:00 by default. For the creative, see the AI image ad generator, or start from what your market is running with the ad spy tool.
Frequently asked questions
How many characters is an X post?
280 characters, and Hermoso enforces the same constant on both the scheduling path and the immediate posting path so the two can never drift apart. An over-length post is refused outright, with nothing posted and nothing charged. Alt text is separate and can run to 1,000 characters.
How much does posting to X cost?
X bills per API request and Hermoso passes it through in credits, quoted before it posts. From X’s published rate card a post costs $0.015, and a post containing a URL costs $0.200, roughly 13 times a post without one. Deleting costs $0.010 and reads cost $0.005 per post returned. Media upload legs are not billed.
Can Hermoso schedule an X thread?
Yes, up to 25 posts in one thread. Bear in mind that X bills per API request, so a 25-post thread is 25 billed requests, and any post in it that contains a URL is priced at the higher $0.200 rate rather than $0.015. Hermoso quotes the cost before the thread posts.
Can Hermoso post a poll on X?
Yes. A poll takes 2 to 4 options of up to 25 characters each and runs for between 5 and 10,080 minutes. Polls and media are mutually exclusive on X, so a poll cannot carry an image or a video, and attaching one is refused at schedule time rather than dropped silently.
Can Hermoso schedule an X draft?
No. A post on X is public the moment it exists, and X’s API has no draft and no unlisted post, so public is the only visibility available. A request for a draft is refused when you schedule it, with that reason attached, rather than stored as something else and reinterpreted later.
Does Hermoso manage X ads?
No. The X Ads API is a separate product with its own approval process and its own OAuth signing, and Hermoso cannot create or manage X ad campaigns. Organic posting, threads, polls and reading measurement are what this channel covers. Full ads management does exist elsewhere in Hermoso, on Meta, Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising, Reddit Ads, LinkedIn, Pinterest and ChatGPT Ads.
What X analytics can Hermoso read?
Public counts including impressions, likes, reposts, replies, quotes and bookmarks; advertiser numbers including link clicks, profile visits, video views and completion quartiles for the last 28 hours or over any date range; and mentions. Insights bill per post returned at $0.005 each, so a wide pull costs more than a narrow one.
