Hermoso schedules YouTube uploads from the same place it makes the video. The scheduled item's text is the video title, capped at 100 characters, and a video file is required — YouTube's real rules, checked the moment you schedule rather than at upload time.
Most of what lands here was rendered in Hermoso minutes earlier: an ad or a short built from your product, copy and CTA. The queue and the other seven networks are on the social media scheduler page.
What YouTube actually allows
A scheduled YouTube item is not a caption and a video, it is a title and a video, and that title is capped at 100 characters. This trips people up when a post is fanned out from a shared composer, because 2,200 characters of Instagram copy is not a YouTube title. On the immediate upload path a description of up to 5,000 characters and up to 30 tags are available.
Visibility has three states: public, unlisted and private. There is no draft. YouTube's API can upload as public, unlisted or private, but it cannot create a Studio draft, so nothing here pretends to. Immediate uploads default to unlisted — link-only, and ready to be used as an ad asset — and flipping a video public is a separate, deliberate call rather than a side effect.
A video is required. There is no image-only or text-only YouTube item.
No identity id is needed: there is no Page or board to choose, only the connected channel.
Refused at schedule time, not at upload time
Everything that can be refused is refused while you are still there, with YouTube's rule and the fix. A title written into a caption box is turned down against the 100-character cap before anything uploads. A request for a draft is answered with the reason YouTube has none, rather than being stored as private and quietly reinterpreted later. Refusals cost nothing and name what to change.
After the upload
Hermoso can list your own uploads — including the unlisted and private ones a public search cannot see, which is the only reliable way to resolve a video id for anything else you want to do. It can update a video's title, description, tags and privacy, set a custom thumbnail (this one needs a phone-verified channel, which is YouTube's requirement, not ours), and list and reply to comments.
Measurement
Per-video views, watch time, average view percentage — the retention number that actually tells you whether the edit held — likes, comments, shares, and subscribers gained. Retention is the one worth reading first on an ad-shaped upload, because it says where people left rather than how many arrived.
What Hermoso does not do here
There is no standalone YouTube-ads product in Hermoso. What exists instead is the connection to Google Ads: a YouTube video asset can be attached to a Google Ads campaign, and the video has to be uploaded unlisted first, which is why immediate uploads default to unlisted. If you were expecting YouTube campaign management as its own thing, it is not here. Beyond that, there are no recurring or repeating posts, no first-comment automation, no RSS auto-posting and no URL shortener. Per-channel text is available on the API and from an AI agent, but the web composer has one text box.
From the browser, or from an AI agent
Scheduling a YouTube upload works identically in the web app, in the in-app Studio chat, and from any AI agent over the MCP server — Claude, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Cline or any MCP client. Connecting the channel is a one-time OAuth flow in Settings, Connectors: it needs a browser once, and everything after that is agent-callable. No password ever reaches the model.
Timing matches every other channel: up to 365 days ahead with a minimum lead of more than a minute, or into the brand's posting queue, with default slots at 09:00, 13:00 and 17:00, up to 24 slots, a 90-day forward horizon and a real IANA timezone. For the video itself, see the AI video ad maker, or start from what is already running in your market with the ad spy tool.
Frequently asked questions
How long can a scheduled YouTube title be?
A scheduled YouTube item’s text is the video title, and it is capped at 100 characters. Over-length is refused with the number at schedule time rather than truncated. On the immediate upload path you also get a description of up to 5,000 characters and up to 30 tags, which can be updated after the upload.
Can Hermoso schedule a YouTube video as unlisted or private?
Yes. YouTube has three visibility states and Hermoso supports all of them: public, unlisted and private. Immediate uploads default to unlisted, which is link-only and ready to be used as an ad asset, and making a video public is a separate deliberate call rather than something that happens as a side effect.
Can Hermoso create a YouTube Studio draft?
No, and neither can anything else built on YouTube’s API. It can upload as public, unlisted or private, but it cannot create a Studio draft, so Hermoso refuses a draft request with that reason instead of storing the video as private and calling it a draft. Unlisted is the closest genuine equivalent.
Can I add a description and tags to a scheduled upload?
The scheduled item carries the title. On the immediate upload path a description of up to 5,000 characters and up to 30 tags are available, and after any upload Hermoso can update a video’s title, description, tags and privacy, so a scheduled video can be filled out once it exists.
Can Hermoso set a custom YouTube thumbnail?
Yes, on a channel that is phone-verified. That requirement comes from YouTube rather than from Hermoso: custom thumbnails are gated behind channel verification on their side. Hermoso can also list your own uploads, including unlisted and private ones that a public search cannot see, and list and reply to comments.
What YouTube analytics does Hermoso read?
Per-video views, watch time, average view percentage, likes, comments, shares and subscribers gained. Average view percentage is the retention figure, and on an ad-shaped upload it is the one to read first, because it tells you where viewers left rather than only how many of them arrived.
Does Hermoso run YouTube ads?
There is no standalone YouTube-ads product in Hermoso. What exists is the Google Ads path: a YouTube video asset can be attached to a Google Ads campaign, and the video has to be uploaded unlisted first, which is why immediate uploads default to unlisted. Campaign management for YouTube on its own is not offered.
