Most people watch short videos with the sound off, so a video without captions loses them in the first second. Hermoso adds subtitles to any video: one you made with Hermoso, one you filmed yourself, or one you found online. It writes them from what is said, times them to the speech, and burns them into the picture in the look you describe. Nothing in your video is cut or re-rendered.

How do I add subtitles to a video?

  1. Bring the video. Upload a file, paste a direct video link, or paste a TikTok, Instagram Reel, X post or YouTube link.
  2. Describe the look, or skip it. Say it in your own words, like bold yellow caps with a black outline or small white serif at the top. With no description you get clean white sentence-case captions with a thin outline at the bottom.
  3. Get two files back. The video with the captions burned in, and the .srt subtitle file, which you can upload to YouTube or any player that takes captions.

What kind of captions can it make?

  • Sentence captions. One line per sentence, timed to when it is said. The calm, readable choice for talking videos and explainers.
  • Word-timed captions. Short phrases that appear on the words as they are spoken, the punchy style common on Reels and TikTok.
  • Your own lines. Write the captions yourself with their times and they are burned in exactly as written, nothing transcribed. Good for jokes, reel-style phrases and stage directions.
  • Only the .srt. If you want the subtitle file without touching the video, ask for that.

The look is yours: font (any Google Font), size, colour, outline, a box behind the text, and position. Describe it the way you would to an editor.

What if the video has no speech?

Then there is nothing to subtitle, and Hermoso says so instead of burning in captions it made up. The job is refused and refunded. If you want words on a silent video, write your own lines and they go in exactly as written.

Can I subtitle videos from ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Connect the Hermoso MCP and ask your assistant to subtitle a video. It runs through the add_subtitles tool, the result lands in your Hermoso library, and the same assistant can then post or schedule the captioned video to your channels.
