What the viewer shows
Type a community like r/espresso or r/smallbusiness and click search. The Hermoso Studio reads the subreddit's top recent posts and shows them in the chat with the title, the upvotes and the number of comments on each. That is the community's own vote on what matters to it this week.
A subreddit is a room full of people who chose to gather around one interest. Reading its top posts is the closest thing to sitting in on their conversation. The Studio can then sum it up for you: the questions that keep coming back, the products people praise, and the ones they warn each other about.
Why marketers read subreddits
- Learn your customer's words. In r/SkincareAddiction people describe their skin in their own terms. Those phrases make better ad copy than anything a brand team writes, because they are what buyers already think.
- Find the pain points worth an ad. Posts with a high comment count often mark a shared frustration. A problem hundreds of people discuss is a problem an ad can name.
- Check how a community feels about a product type. Before you advertise in a space, see whether members trust brands there or roll their eyes at them. That decides the tone of everything you make.
- Plan Reddit ads. Knowing which communities are active, and what they upvote, tells you which ones fit your offer before you spend on Reddit ads.
How to read upvotes and comments
Upvotes show agreement. Comments show debate. A post with many upvotes and few comments is something members agree with and nod past. A post with a modest score and a long comment count is a live argument, and those threads are where the real opinions sit. Ask the Studio to pull out the posts where comments far outnumber what you would expect for the upvotes.
Different communities move at different speeds, so compare posts within the same subreddit. A post with a few hundred upvotes might be huge in a niche hobby community and ordinary in a big one.
Watch the flair and the title style too. Many subreddits tag posts as questions, reviews or routines, and the titles that reach the top tend to follow a house style. Matching that style is how a brand post avoids looking like an ad.
Limits
The viewer shows the top recent posts that Reddit shows publicly right now. Private and banned subreddits cannot be read, and removed or deleted posts are gone. It does not show the subreddit's member count over time or a post's history. The Studio reads post titles and counts from the listing, so follow the link to a thread when you want the full discussion.
When a thread names a problem your product solves, ask the Studio to turn it into an ad angle or a post for your brand in the same chat. Ad Spy covers the rest of Hermoso's research tools.
Frequently asked questions
Is the subreddit viewer free?
Yes. Type a subreddit and search for free. The Studio shows its top recent posts with upvotes and comment counts.
How do I type the subreddit?
Type it as r/name, like r/espresso, or just the name on its own. Capital letters do not matter.
Do I need a Reddit login?
No. You type the subreddit here and the Studio reads its public posts for you. You never log in to Reddit.
Can I view a private subreddit?
No. Private, quarantined and banned communities are not public, so the Studio cannot read them. Removed and deleted posts are gone too.
Does it show the comments themselves?
It shows each post's comment count, not the comment text. Open the thread on Reddit to read the full discussion.
What can I do with the results?
Ask follow-up questions in the same chat, like what problems members raise most, or ask the Studio to turn a common complaint into an ad angle for your brand.
